Default is there anything better??

If god created anything better then the XF he kept that sh*t for himself. The more I read about this car, look at this car, and test drive this car I fall more and more in love with it! I look at all the other cars in the same class as the XF and I don’t see anything that compares. A C-Class that is equipped the same cost almost the same amount! Not to down play the C-Class but come on…. Not even close if you ask me. There have been a lot of cars that I have liked over the years but nothing like the XF. It seems to be the perfect car with the right price. The only thing I wish you could add is all wheel drive. Maybe an option on the upcoming models?? That would be perfect for those that live in snowville like me. Has anyone driven in the snow with their XF yet? If so how did it do?

You will likely never see AWD on a jag again.
Buy the XF and a $1000 beater subie for the snow.
Also the XF has a thing called winter mode. Is supposed to be about equal to awd in the snow.

yeah i think cadilac has a winter mode thing too but is not even close to awd. why don't you think Jaguar will do AWD again? All the other brands offer it as an option.

Because the X-type was an utter failure with this tranny, and their sealed for life bullshit was bad enough for the rwd tranny, now imagine the awd tranny that generates twice as much heat. Then again, the X-type was only 32K, if you factor in some more money for Research and Development for a SMART and EFFICIENT awd tranny, I think it could happen again.

I think all the drive line crap that goes into an AWD is repair problems waiting to happen..Don't get me wrong, when it's working good, nothing can beat it..But I like the RWD and can adjust my driving to accommodate for weather conditions (having grown up in Wisconsin winters)...I haven't driven an XF yet, sorta afraid to, in case the feversets in too bad...I'm a tall guy, 6'4..so I guess I better check one out and make sure it will at least fit me..I need all the leg room the X can give and the back tilted back quite a ways to just be comfortable..

Don't give us this "height baloney." You're just creeping in style!

The tires that were on our XF Supercharged when we test drove it are not winter tires but the dealer still wanted us to drive it on the snow/ icecovered roads. He was amazed at how good it was and knew we intend to drive it through the winter.
We put winter tires on our S-type R and drove it through 2of the 3 winters we had it. We garaged it the 1st winter- big mistake. It's that good in snow with winter tires. We live in east central Wisconsin so we do get our share of snow. This February we were driving through snow so deep we were pushing it with the front bumper. I feel far more secure in it than any front wheel drive car or van I've previously owned. The only thing better was a 4x4 full size pickup.
My first impression of the XF in snow is that it is more refined in winter mode than the STR. I'm not sure how that will play out in deeper snow but I'm pretty sure it will be at least as good as the STR. We intend to get winter tires in fall for the XF. I'll keep you posted when the white stuff start again.[sm=boosign.gif]
