Just took it for a drive with the wife. Man, it looks, feels and runs like a brand new car! Everything eventually requires maintenance, my theory is that it should be done before something fails, combine that with the quality and engineering in these cars and you've got a winning combination imho.

I am very pleased!

Here are a few pics of the assembled front end, I think it looks fantastic.

Great job! I have always completed most of my work myself including rebuilding a Dodge 545RFE transmission myself and replacing a piston that lost a ring land myself. For some reason with this car I have no stomach for it? That might change later but I just could not be bothered to even change the oil myself?

Nice work 09. Glad I didn't buy the grille as I would have had the dealer install it. The black grille looks great on the white car with the chrome surround. Thanx for posting with photos too!

Thanks man! I was apprehensive at first but then thought it may be a Jag but it is still a car and went for it. I am glad I did, can not imagine what the labor for all this would have been at a dealership not to mention they would not have repaired the trans lines rather lift the engine and replace them. I am sure I saved a lot of money doing it myself and I know it is done right plus they would not have done all the cleaning I did.

I find myself kneeling in front of you..............Hey, not for that!!
I am very impressed with your work and attention to detail in your work. Your engine bay looks as clean as a new car. I know you will get many more miles on that beautiful car.

The only thing I would have had done would be to remove the front tag mount, even though you did a great job to bling it.

Appreciate your comments!

I would rather not have that front tag mount on there either, one day if I have the bumper cover painted I will have the holes filled first, in the meantime a little bling does not hurt.

FYI it took over 7.5 quarts of oil to fill the engine as I had drained both oil coolers and removed the lines, now I know about how much oil is actually in there.

Summary :

- water pump & gasket
- thermostat & gasket
- accessory drive belt
- drive belt idler pulley
- drive belt tensioner
- supercharger belt
- supercharger belt idler pulley
- supercharger belt tensioner
- Fram fuel filter
- engine oil cooler outlet line
- engine oil cooler inlet line
- engine oil cooler connecting line
- transmission pan
- case of Redline D6 ATF
- 8 quarts Mobil 1 5W30
- Bosch oil filter
- 4 gallons of Prestone coolant
- used/damaged aftermarket black grill
All parts oem unless otherwise specified.

Total $ cost was about $1300. Not bad at all! I purchased the parts on line for way less than my local dealer wanted for the exact same parts, I even gave the local dealer a chance to match the prices. They would not!

My labor was free and I love working on my cars and I did a lot of cleaning/detailing etc while it was apart.

Plus I repaired the transmission cooler lines.

Felt like I was Ed on Wheeler Dealers, one of my favorite tv shows.

All in all, 'a good result'!

I estimate thats about 5K Grand in labor easy. Great way to save and also make sure you have done the job right. Hats off!

Thanks.

I don't know what a dealership would have charged but it probably would have been a lot!

I am surprised Jagular didn't pipe in here somewhere saying something to the effect of "its a waste of money changing out these parts as Jaguar has engineered them to last the life of the car".

Oh yeah, some of the parts had FoMoCo on them but they were in Jaguar packaging. They don't even bother to remove the Ford reference.

Jaguar/LR is still sourcing a lot of their parts from Ford.

I got quoted $1217 for this fix, and another $487.48 to replace spark plugs...from the Jaguar dealer in Tysons Corner, VA...

Unfortunately this repair seems out of my league :-/

I'm gonna change my own plugs though, and I too am going with the Bosch Iridiums...

I'll try taking it to Top Line Jaguar Repair for the transmission cooler line repair...

Well, here we are, 6 years later!

I'm starting to see some of what appears to be the "dreaded transmission line leakage" on our 34,000 mile, 2009 XF. hearing that the engine would have to be lifted at what I'm sure is $$$ at the dealer, does not encourage me. I also realize that these transmissions are expensive to replace, and tricky to service, so I'll have to get it looked at soon, as I don't want the tranny to go kaput!
