Default Last free schedule maintenance clarification

Hello,

Like most of the other 2012s here, my 2012 XF is approaching the end of its four-year free scheduled maintenance. Up to this point, I have taken the car in once every 360 days or so for the annual free scheduled maintenance. Because I was cutting off a few days each year, the car will be due for its next scheduled maintenance about 15-20 days prior to its end of warrantee / free scheduled maintenance.

Will Jaguar cover this last scheduled maintenance or will they say "you've already had your three" or something to that effect. All the 2011 (5 year maint included) and 2012 owners are about to hit this point. Thank you.

Nope..you are due (4) and 4 you shall be entitled to, no less....The deal is, every 15,000 miles or one year, whcih ever comes first..Taking it in a few days early does not matter..I wait till my DIC tells me it's time...

BTW.. better learn how to reset the "Service Reminder" indicator after this last time...

My dealer tells me that on the 4th scheduled maintenance I must do it before the 4 year warranty expires. I plan the 4th one about a week before the expiration date. My 3rd is in a couple of weeks.

It is interesting that the "change your oil at 3000 miles and use whatever synthetic you want in spite of the factory recommendations" crowd has not jumped in here! Just sayin!

Thanks. So it sounds like as long as the owner did their part and took the vehicle in every year, a 2011 owner will get five complementary scheduled maintenances and a 2012 owner will get four, providing the final one is done prior to the expiration of the complementary service period. Appreciate the clarification.

Guys,

I'm not so sure about getting that 4th free oil change. I just had my 3rd done today and the dealer told me this was the last free one. I have a 2012 XF and the first oil change was done in August of 2013. I drive much less then 10K per year, so I've been going in annually.

And I did..The documentation states :

The Jaguar Platinum Coverage program covers work determined necessary by illumination of the Service Interval Indicator, which is triggered nominally at 15,000 miles, or every 12 months, whichever occurs first. Under certain arduous driving conditions the Service Interval Indicator may illuminate more frequently. If so, the scheduled
maintenance service will be covered provided the vehicle is within the 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period.

So based on this if you drive less than 15k per year you will get 4 services at one year intervals. If you drive more than 15k per year you will be limited to how many you get by the 50k ceiling.

So like I said above, If you are putting on less than 15,000 miles per year in the first four years, you get the free service at the end of the 4th year...

Thanks for the inputs. As XJL heard from his dealer in this past month, there is some ambiguity on the issue and some dealers are / will plan on charging us, about $500, for what we are interpreting to be complimentary service.

As we get into the tail end of this year, I suspect we will hear reports of a certain percentage of us 2011 and 2012 owners having conflicts with local dealerships on this topic unless Jag corporate comes down with some crystal clear guidance.

Also, the start time for the Jaguar Platinum Service is the same as the Manufacturers Warranty, which is the date that the car was first sold. So here is the breakdown in my case:

1. Car first sold per Carfax: 9/13/12-Warranty begins

2. First service: 9/17/13------miles 7903

3. Second service: 9/08/14------miles 12,447

4. Third service: 9/11/15------miles 18,368

However, according to the dealer service invoice, the dealer reports the delivery date as 8/23/12. This date is listed on every service invoice but contradicts Carfax. Does anyone else have this listed incorrectly? Perhaps this is what's causing the mixup.

So technically I am within my 4 years of the Platinum Maintenance Coverage on 9/11/16 through 9/12/16 with one year between the service.

Just take it in B4 8-23-16 and you should not be charged for the 4th service.

I just completed the dealer survey and related this situation to the Corporate HQ at Jaguar North America. I will share their response once I receive it.

The bottom line is if it's not a 4 year warranty, it should NOT be advertised as such.

I never got a reply from the dealer survey that was supposed to link to Jaguar North America. So I called the dealer and was advised that the coverage was 3 years or 3 services. That is not what was advertised.

I was referred to calling or contacting Jaguar Corporate at this link so I though I would share with all of you.

I have a 2012 XF Supercharged which I bought new (I'm the first owner) in January 2013. When I purchased the car I asked if the free servicing covered the first 4 services and was told only the first 3 since the 4th year service is also the 60K mile service which is outside of the 50K mile limit. It didn't make any sense to me then but figured it was typical marketing exaggeration in the advertising. I just called Jaguar HQ and asked them the same question and was told that only the first 3 services are free. The 4th (four year) service is at my expense.
Interestingly I was also told that only some of the 2012 year cars have the Platinum servicing even though my documents say "All 2012 Jaguars".

It will be interesting to see what happens with other 2012 MY cars.

I have the document that came with the car in front of me. It says "Jaguar Platinum Coverage standard on all 2012 Jaguar cars" right on the front cover. Pictured is the whole line up (XF, XJ, and XK).

I had the same document in front of me too. The response from Jaguar (paraphrasing) was "We didn't really mean that". It inspires huge confidence in the brand doesn't it.

Well what they meant to say and what they did say are two different things. I'm requesting all correspondence be in email and I will also suggest that before saying "no," someone should run this by their legal department.

With the launch of the new XE, does Jaguar need bad publicity right now?
