tire noise
2012 XF, 35000 miles, original Continental tires.
Some on the forum have noted that these are noisy tires, butI’m not anxious to replace them, because I only drive 5-7K miles/year, am thinkingof trading next year, and tread still looks pretty good.
However, in addition to the noise from various roadsurfaces, I have a low tire noise over 55mph (quiet “wa-wa-wa-wa"), easilydrowned out by conversation or stereo. Most noticeable if the road is smooth.There is no vibration that I can detect, but it’s annoying when there's noother noise or distraction.
This symptom has been there for at least 2 years, 10K miles,maybe even since new. I tend to forget about it in the months I only drivearound town, but I had to take a trip this weekend, and realized I’ll haveanother several hours of 65-70mph coming up this summer.
Is this just (Continental) tire noise? If so, I’ll grit myteeth for a few more trips.
