Default Tire recommendations for XFR

I created a separate thread due to the others mainly populated with puny V6 tire recommendations

Discovered a nice gash in my sidewall that is a 1/4" deep.

I live in Houston so A/S are not needed and I would not run them on this car anyway.

I am thinking Michelin PSS, the car has Nitto 555 extreme currently I am not a fan. I realize they are old tires with ~20k miles on them manufacturing date was 8/13 so that could be a factor in my dislike.

Also what could cause a gash like that? At most the tail "may" come out from under me every once in a while but that is it.

Another thing tire rack has six tires that fit the stock size, has anyone run a 295 on the stock rear wheel before?

I live in Los Angeles and have a set of Bridgestone Pole Position S04s that are priced about in the middle of the available range. Once I got a about 300 miles on it the turn-in and grip came alive and so far with over 5000 miles they are doing great. Not as gripy or precise as the much more expensive Dunlop Sport Maxxs I had on previously, but they are just fine for a big sedan like this that never sees the track. They also move water well (have had one heavy rainfall here in the past year.) Of course, this is not a freezing weather tire (I did try them in the mountains last winter and they were too nervous in icy/snowy conditions.) You will be fine with them in Houston.

I have a set of Nitto 555 tires that I run during the dry season. Since we are in the monsoon weather season and it rains a lot, I am currently running Yokohama S Drive tires and really like them. I have not had any hydroplaning or grip loss issues. The Yokohamas are quiet and I got them at the Tire Rack for a great price.

Just an update for those that may be looking for 285/30/20 anytime soon good luck. They dug out two Michelin PSS and will be here Thursday.

Tire Rack has six options on their website most are A/S, discount tire has more options but most are special order and when asked about ordering them there are 0 in the country from their distributors.

No Nitto 555 Extreme, no bridgestone S04 and only the two PSS.

Very curious tire choice by the POMs
