Smile Took off......

Just wanted to share my story from last night.

I put my car in Dynamic mode when I left the house. Then right before I merged onto the highway, I wanted to give Sport Mode a try. I switched into sport mode and gave it a little gas and before I knew it, I was at 90mph. Didn't realize how fast my car can go! I can only imagine the XFR!!

Sounds like something that happen to me. I waited about a month so that I could break the car in.. One night after watching one of those car movies, I decided to take a late night run down I-95. Well, I switch to sport and then Dynamic mode, Pushed my right foot to the floor... After about 105 MPH.. I said....WOW.. We must do that again some time... LOL.. Best date I have had in a long time...LOL...

Yeah the power from a good V8 is very addicting, dammit.

What impresses most is the acceleration from rolling. This is a heavy car and no stop light GP special but once she's rolling it is very satisfying to just nail it.

The partnership between the V8 with reasonable low down torque (for a four valver) and the excellent ZF automatic is eye opening when you stand on it in second gear.

This says a lot for Jaguar, They did their homework and put together a really good power train. I hope they continue the great work.. I'm already looking at my future Jag purchase. It can only get better...

Jaguar has a modest running in recommendation, particularly for the rear axle. The engine is 1,500 km (1,000 miles) but the final drive is to be babied for twice that mileage if I recall the manual correctly.

Try the 5.0. There is no need to even get it 'rolling'; it just moves with your foot. 385bhp is very, very impressive. XF Supercharged and XFR should be downright amazing, no?

Yes, that direct injection is good for nearly 10% extra torque at peak BMEP and power improves in proportion. The biggest effect is the charge cooling resulting from the direct injection. Otherwise the 5.0 would produce around 360 hp only.

Trouble is, direct injection is very expensive to repair if (when?) it goes wrong.

I know that Jaguar touts all the other internal friction savings and weight savings but the biggest effect is that direct injection. Other manufacturers get around 10% more torque and power with direct injection as the only real change.
