It's not like that here in Austin (unfortunately, or maybe fortunately). While the speed limit is usually 75 or 80, the cops won't allow you to go 100+, no way.

They do their speed traps all over Mopac, especially north Mopac before the toll road starts, and along the I35, and they'll pull people over for going 5 above. I usually set my cruise control at three above (which is more like one or two above in reality) and I've been shot by radar/laser many times, but never pulled over. I have seen cars traveling just a few mph faster than me get pulled over.

so cal driving is dependent on two things. first of course is traffic and it is the bane of existence. it's horrible and getting worse every year. second is whether you want to take a chance on dealing with CHP. their cops are almost all universally rude. much worse than local agencies. IMO CHP is a third rate agency that needs to be overhauled.

I couldn't wait to try out the 130 tollroad thinking it might be fun to roll *above* the posted 85 MPH speed limit. Sucked having to keep the cruise on 86 for the entire route from Seguin up to ?? where it drops to 75. Cops everywhere down there!! Yikes.
And I35 was so painful I'll take the back roads next time!!

Ok..ok...calm down people. We aren't ruffians here.

I want to go to motorsports ranch south of Fort Worth and get on the track to see how this XF corners. When I am ready to trash the tires it has I'm heading down there. Drove their Lotus on the main track and it was a effing rush!!! They also have some formula 3 machines that they will rent out, but the price was hefty.
