Default TPMS has a mind of its own

My 2010 XF Premium has been a dream, but when the weather got noticeably cooler (ok colder). The TPMS has been popping up and indicating that the tire pressure should be checked. Sometimes it goes to all of the tires then turns off. Within a few minutes, it settles on my driver’s side rear tire. I have been checking the pressure regularly and that rear tire was low. I added and balanced the pressure, and the next day it became "haunted" again going from tire to tire, then going off. Checking the tires yielded no change in the pressure from when I balanced all the tires two days ago. I do expect a fluctuation in tire pressure with colder outside temps.

I am going to put my winter tires on this week so I'll check for a nail or screw. Has anyone experienced problems with the TPMS similar to this?

Thanks

At minus 27C which is about minus 15F I get the TPMS message on the lowest pressure tire. At higher temperatures either you have a leak or the computer has gone barmy and needs to be looked into. Temperature effects are 1 psi for each 5 degrees C which is approx 10 degrees F. The TPMS should not signal until the affected tire is at least 5 psi low. This would require a temperature drop of 50 degrees F very approximately. Where I live it is common for the spread to reach these levels as my garage is heated to 10 C, or 50 F so I need to overpressure my tires by about 6 psi in winter to keep the "cold" pressure correct for outdoors.

If you are measuring cold pressure in your garage then allow for the drop to normal outside winter temps, which where you are must not be very cold

09 XF NON SC
This is what is currently happening to me.
NYC hits like 16-18 degrees
Check tire pressure pops on
I check- relate 3 lbs to each tire
goes off.

now at the stated precise pressure and temp 40 degrees… the warning light intermittently goes off ON EACH TIRE ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND
SOMETIMES BACK LEFT SOMETIME RIGHT
I figure I try waiting a few days as I know pressure s perfect

It was 62 today in Phoenix, my winter lawn is green. My roses are blooming and by Saturday it will be 74. My Jag is still running around on Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires and my TPMS is happy. How do you guys live with the cold?

It's 72 degrees here in Atlanta today. Storms Wednesday and back to 59 degrees on Thursday. I can't imagine living in the temps discussed in this thread!!

haha its -35C or -30F on a daily basis here for the last 2 weeks...it can get crazy but life goes on and the city stays alive!

Honestly hate the cold myself but love snow...give me -10C every now and then with some snow and I would be happy (Vancouver is the dream)
