Transmission fluid
There is no easy way (Thanks, ZF and Jaguar). Only way I can think of is to check the level at the fill plug on the transmission.
I think transmission would need to be at normal operation temp and engine running. Not an easy job due to location of the plug and close proximity to the exhaust. A lift would be recommended/required. Might as well go ahead and change out all the fluid and filter if you going to do all that just to check the level.

Below is the correct procedure for checking the fluid level in the ZF 6HP26/28 gearbox.

Yes, the engine must be running and fully warm, and the exhaust downpipe is only inches away from the fill plug... =:-0

You dreamed of a big star -
He played a mean guitar -
He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine

The transmission fluid needs to be between 86f - 95f when checking the level. This is why most shops ask you to leave the car overnight. It is easy to over shoot 95f. It takes forever to cool it back down. If you drive the car to the shop, it will take hours to cool to 86f. I know, I changed mine on a lift by myself.
One other important point is to always loosen the fill plug before attempting to check the fluid level or drain the gearbox.
If for some reason the fill plug cannot be removed and the gearbox needs fluid, the vehicle must be towed to a shop capable of removing the fill plug.

Take care not to set the car on fire!
Mine is an 09 and is due for a transmission oil change. I just asked my Jaguar dealer this past week when they could slot my car in for its oil change (I already have the sump which I bought a year ago - not cheap, because it has the filter built in) and they told me they don't do transmission services!!! WTF???
I'm currently getting hold of Jaguar headoffice to have them send a technician to my city who knows how to do this job since my dealer doesn't have the expertise - very bad of them!
