Default Trunk Reading as Open Even Though It's Closed

Good evening from Japan everyone!

I am currently an active duty member stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I own a 2008 Jaguar XF (2009 if it was from the west) 4.2L. About a month or so ago, my trunk suddenly decided to no longer work. It no longer responds from the key fob, or from the release tab inside the car. It will open if I used the physical key. I recently had it looked at by the only Jaguar mechanics on the island, and they told me that the physical trunk latch needed to be replaced. Rather than pay them ~1,000 dollars to replace it, I ordered the a replacement off of eBay and replaced it myself. However, the car is still reading it as open. I know it's been brought up before, and previous responses have suggested looking into the wiring in the corner where the trunk lid opens and closes. I tried looking at the wiring associated with the trunk and latch, and it all seems to be perfectly fine. Unfortunately, a lot of is still covered up by the fabric coverings, and none of it looks like it's fraying or needs to be replaced. Rather than lose my car for another 3 days for "diagnostics", and be out $300 for an inspection, can anyone else provide me some assistance?

Thank you!

You need to undo what ever is covering the wire loom. The breaks will not be visible.
Can you use a meter to check the wires when you get them exposed?

The wiring loom is pretty cheap and it definitely breaks. If it hasn't already it's waiting to happen. So I would suggest that anyway. You can disconnect and test with a multimeter but at that point you've done most of the work and might as well replace. Seem to remember it was about $100 although that was a while ago

If you test and find the breaks you can splice and repair. But other wires will likely break over time.

Yeah.... I was hoping it wouldn't get to the point that I'd have to replace the loom, but if I'm already taking it apart, I might as well. You're right on the multimeter part, because it would be beneficial to check. The problem is I don't own one

Maybe someone with more knowledge can confirm (or correct) the following part number(s) for the boot loom………..

Classic…..DX23-13A444 BA or DX23-13A444 BB
Classic……19874 (16 pin)
Facelift……19978 (24 pin)
