Tyres
New to this so sorry if this has already been discussed.
I have a 2010 XF diesel and it seems to eat tyres (tires)
I only seem to get bout 8K miles from rears and 12K from the front.
I am really not overly heavy footed.
The only advice from the dealer was to engage the "ice" setting (don't ya just love 'em?)
The tyres are the original Pirelli items. Has anyone tried another tyre ?

Pirelli are known for relatively short life on these cars. North American cars are generally equipped with all season tires completely different from UK cars. Low grip and high mileage, relatively.
Try the new Michelin SuperSport, though may not last any longer than Pirelli. Also, Continental tires are very good at the moment.
The only other way to beat this is to buy cheap tires. Not worth it in my opinion.
The Winter setting only affects acceleration. Most of your tire wear is from cornering in the UK, we get far fewer corners to deal with. A lot of roundabouts will wear tires like nobodies business, for example.

I'm not sure if you have north american style markings on your tires, but here we have a treadwear rating. In my experience anything lower than 280...and probably more like 340 will almost evaporate off of any vehicle I've owned. As you get towards 500 and up they're almost like driving on marbles...very aggressive sporting tires are in the 100 to 180 range.
