Question Upgrading to XFR,Need buying tips/help

I have an 09 XF S/C with 30K miles I want to sell/trade-in for a 10/11 XFR. But, what I am seeing is so many fluxuations in XFR pricing when comparing options/miles.

What is the best way to make a XFR purchase and some buying tips? My plan was to trade my XF in to get the tax break and to buy from a Jag dealer to get the 0.9% APR that is still going on. I am located in Central NJ and do not see many of these around for sale, so that makes it hard for me to get one cheap.

Please help me out with a buying strategy and some tips for getting into a 10/11 XFR at a good price with a warranty left on it. I only plan to keep it for about 2 years max.

I am not sure what sites you are using to find the car you want, but i normally pick 100-150 mile range within my location. I bought the last 3 vehicles from N.J. (i am in NY) Better prices and better condition cars have been the case for me.

Anyway, there is a XFR by me going for $55,000. I have seen the car in person and it looks clean. I know someone there at the dealership and i can introduce you to him if you want to make the trip.

Used Inventory for Jaguar Huntington in Huntington NY 11743 that includes used cars trucks and suv

When you say tax break, I assume you mean that by trading in your car at the dealer, you only have to pay taxes on the difference between the new car and the trade in yes? It amazes me that so many states only allow this to dealer trades. I guess I am lucky but in Missouri you have 180 days to sell a car outright and apply that as a trade in credit for tax purposes. It eliminates having to trade the car in for nothing because you can sell it yourself and then use that notarized bill of sale as a trade in against taxes. IMO this should be the norm.

Executive: I have been using Autotrader to find a XFR. I have seen the one you mention and it is very nice and clean. The wheels are nice too ,but the interior will be impossible to clean. If the price budges or they give me fair on trade I would take it right away. That dealer is about 65 miles from me, I search about 100 miles from my Zip code here in NJ 08846.

Jlindy: Yes, Tax break on appling my full trade in towards the new car. At a guess I am going to say they may give me 31k for mine and I will pay the difference of the 55k for the XFR and pay tax on that only. The current offer with 0.9% is only good for a 24 month loan so the payments will be killer I think?

Any other ways/methods you guys can tell me on how to make this purchase the smart way? I just cant believe on how the few XFR's around have such far different price tags on them. They depriciate so fast I want to make a smart choice.

Bigcat, sounds like already you are on the right track, as far as shopping/locating the new car goes.

If you want to call the dealer @631-427-2222 and ask for John Celano. See if he can cut you a deal on that car.

Tell him Edgar made the reference.

Expand your search to "Any Distance." I'm in the tri-state area too, and last year was in a lengthy search primarily on Autotrader. My requirements were very specific and precise. Ended up finding my car at a Jag dealer in North Carolina. After a quick $150 round trip flight the car was mine and shipping was about $600. Dealer arranged the shipping and they'll deliver to your house. As an added bonus my car never saw a harsh NE winter (and didn't this year either, I'm beginning to like global warming).
