Default Warranty

With all of the problems that our new-to-us 2009 XF has (alternator, rear door electronic lock, rear axle seal, dashboard cover separating, exterior chrome trim bubbling), I have to ask about the warranty. Is it 48 months or 50,000 miles - whichever comes first? Ours only has 41K miles.

Question 2: Is a 2009 XF with these problems a lemon?

Your 2009 is long out of factory warranty.
Yes, it's what ever comes first. Miles or time. Yours was time.

If owning a used Jaguar the only way it makes sense is to DIY the problems. Lucky for us this list exists so we can research and do the repairs.

Plus be aware that even with a warranty a number of the items you list are trim or cosmetic items and not covered after the first year anyway.

How recently did you buy it - and did the seller provide any warranty. You might have some opportunity to work with the seller on alternator and real axle seal - but as tbird says the rest is cosmetic and part of the process of cars ageing...

I would expect DIY or an indy shop for alternator and for the door lock should be pretty reasonable cost. Axle seal I'm not sure about.
