Water pump replaced
Had to have my water pump replaced yesterday - Wasn't leaking just sounded like marbles were bouncing around in the engine - apparently the water pump bearing failed at 33,415 miles. Something to watch out for as it appears that this is a somewhat common problem. Thank goodness for the warranty.
I had the water pump in my 2009 XF replaced about this time last year with about 50,000 miles on the car. Others have since stated it is not common on the 09's, all I can say is that it happened to me.
I think I have some sort of waterpump or thermostat issue right now with my 2009. The "Engine Temperature High" light came on the other day after sitting in 45 minutes of traffic and the a/c stopped blowing cold. Went away when the light turned green and I started to go again but I am taking it to the dealer this week.
Just had mine replaced at 56k miles. The service writers seemed to say that this is a regular problem and that Jag isn't releasing water pumps so they are hard to come by. I would not have known it was failing, had I not been outside the car when it was idling.
