Default what spark plugs to use on a 09 xf 4.2

Hey guys, I have 93,000 miles on my 09 XF and it is going to be time for me to change plugs soon. I have been looking at the MSD #3725 plugs to put in because I just had good look with MSD on my 68 Cougar. But what guys out there used and what is the normal gap settings on the plugs??

thanks,

Chris

I suspect OE are NGK IFR5N10 iridium. They're pregapped; do NOT use a feeler gauge on them as they're super-delicate. Good for 100K miles on my engine which yours essentially is.

Whatever experience you had with ignition systems on a '60s car is not really comparable or relevant to a modern car.

Experiment with aftermarket stuff if you want- it's not going to work better than the OEM hardware.

I also use the factory Iridium plugs from NGK in my 2005 STR.

Changed them at 95K miles and no problems currently at 110K miles.

I also recommend the NGK Iridium plugs for use on the XF. I have heard also that the top of the line Bosch plugs are just as good. I have used the MSD plugs on my hot rods with good results. But I have never tried them on my luxury cars. I tend to use the factory recommended stuff on them. But if many have tried one brand or another with good success, then I am open to trying them.

thanks I will probably go with the OE plugs since they are cheaper than the MSD Iridium plugs. I just wanted to see if anybody ventured out to other styles of plugs.
