Where can I get a Jaguar wheel lock socket without buying a new set
My new to me XF came with wheel locks but today I searched all over the thing for the socket to remove them and came up empty. Any ideas on where I can come up with just the socket? Barring any good reasonably cheap suggestions do you think most dealers will have the socket so I can at least remove the locks and put the standard lug nuts back on. It is the female wavy lug nut style lock.
I am not sure that you can find someone or dealer that would have the specific lock that you have. They are made as a set and are fairly unique. If you had the original box and code number, they may be able to replicate it. The original dealer may have the specific code for it if they were installed before the original sale. I have the same type on my 09 XF S/C but I am lucky enough to have the original box with the removed lug nuts that I store in the trunk with the spare. I hope that you have good luck with locating a key.
Well the dealer my wife uses for service had a master set so drove down today to have them taken off. Sadly on the way home something came off a truck a good 500 yards in front of me breaking my windshield. Having such luck lately. Is the glass used on the XF weak? I've heard louder bangs from things hitting my other xj and xk and nodda. Of course insurance is authorizing an aftermarket piece only. Haven't even made a car payment yet.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the windshield. With respect to your wheel lock situation, the supplier for the locks is most likely McGard. They're located outside of Buffalo, NY. They might be able to set you up with a couple of replacement keys (1 to carry in the trunk of the car, and 1 for the tool box at home, just in case).
