winter wheel suggestions for 2010 XF SC
I know this is probably old hat for you guys but I've been trying to search for help on winter wheels (2010 xf supercharged, specifically) but have not been able to find anything conclusive. This guy didn't get an answer in the wheel forum so I thought I'd try here. What is the smallest rim size I can go to get the tallest wheel appropriate for winter tires? I bent a stock enkei rim on my Evo last year and it was heartbreaking (and expensive), I just want cheapo wheels to put good snows on with plenty of padding to get through the snow and pothole season.
I'm thinking 18x8, someone was selling those for an 09 XF SC but am not sure what the clearances are and if I can go smaller. I've seen folks recommend that or even 17's for non-SC versions, but I that sounds too small for brake clearance.
Also, any suggestions/thoughts on cheap rims and recommended tire sizes for said rims would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I had the same question a while ago. Went with 19's because it seemed questionable that 18's would fit. Detroit wheel and tire has OEM's at decent prices (may be reconditioned but what they shipped me looked brand new). I did Blizzak LM-60's. I have had trouble getting the TPMS sensors they included to be picked up by the vehicle.
