Default Wood veneer cracked and dated. New black wrap!

I've been updating my 2010 XF and after I dyed the doors and console black, the wood looked terrible. Too bland. Ad I have cracks developing. Gee jag veneer cracking. Big suprise!!
I had some black titanium vinyl warp and a little carbon wrap so I covered it all. Still have doors to do but I'm really happy. I may order more titanium and re cover blade to match but the roll I have is brushed in the wrong direction and it looked odd with brushed being vertical.
Also covered the silver metal around controls. That's the best thing!! Really updates that area. Never liked all the silver plastic.

Very nice! I love that carbon look. Does the wrap cause any issues with the glove box opener (spot you put your finger on)? I think that is the piece that has the opener right?

The curse of the iPhone strikes again - everything always displays in landscape!

I've rotated the images for easier viewing. Looks good.

It's not the veneer that cracks(checks) its the nitro finish. It's the same finish they use on guitars. People pay good money to have their brand new guitar checked. But I think you could take the pieces to a guitar luthier and they can refinish it.

I know, went through it with my XJS. Just too much a pain to remove door cards. Wrap updates a veneer I didn't choose in the first place. Hated that color!! And the clear coat cracks sealed the deal!! More modern now but I'm rethinking the carbon. May try gloss black wrap on doors and blade. Piano black look. But I love the brushed black steel down center console. It's staying!! Looks factory if you look at new options on jaguar site!! Wood veneer cracked and dated. New black wrap!-image.jpg

Did you clear coat the wrap? Gloss black wrap works well and matches the piano black perfectly, but it shows up finger marks much more than the brushed metallic or cf. I have it in the XKR centre piece (near the shifter).

Nah, left as is. I tried a satin spray on a scrap but it looses the brushed effect. I also tried the gloss black on t XK8 and it actually showed fine scratches. Looked great until sun hit it. I am trying the gloss on the blade possibly. But I'm getting so used to the carbon and in person the texture looks so good I'll probably leave it.
I have some crock texture wrap in bronze. I sprayed a piece with black laquer and I've got to say, it's interesting!! Lol.

That looks great! I really like that darker look in the interior.

I've ordered a new gloss carbon wrap that really looks good. I saw it in person and had to literally get 6 inches to see it wasn't real. The gloss is so high and the carbon subtle. I miss some reflective surface in my car and since this looks like the factory carbon, I'm going to try it on the door panels and blade. But leave the brushed black center console. The real XF carbon is on the right, new vvivid wrap on the left.

dealer replaced my cracked veneer on warranty...worth looking into if you're still on warranty.

I did try but the veneer is only covered under the original warranty, not the select warranty. And frankly, I never liked the color. My door panels had these strange pinkish blobs in the stain. I'm always on the look out for a full piano black or carbon set on ebay, but they don't show up often.
My car has started showing age inside, actually was when I bought it. The first owner really was rough on it so I don't mind playing around with it. I'm actually super happy with the brushed black and the new gloss fiber looks factory. If I didn't tell anyone, they'd assume it was real. It's that good!!
