Default Would you buy this car?

New to the forum and I'm in the market for my first Jag. I want a 2010-12 xf. I found one that I like but am concerned about minor accident on a carfax. What do you guys think? Here's the link to the carfax
CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 2011 JAGUAR XF PREMIUM

Without a doubt yes. If the price is right. Mine had very similar info and I bought it 4 weeks ago. 2011 xf premium. Love it! Honestly no structural damage / frame damage was reported. Nor was tow needed. You are fine. 75% of those are very minor fender benders if that. Buy it. Use that as bargaining chip tho hehe

Two separate accidents on the carfax. And wheel alignment performed a month or two after the second accident. I would want to see details of all the repairs that were done from the garage / body shop to gauge how serious the accident was. It is low mileage for it's age which is in your favour. By the way, the carfax suggests there is 19 months warranty left, but the 2010 models only came with 4 year warranty (5 year was with the 2011s) so I think there is actually only about 5 or 6 months left on warranty.

Yeah that's a really good price if it doesn't have structural damage.

Welcome to the forum beachsidescott,

I see you're getting good advice here. Hope the vehicle checks out OK.

I would be worried because I have heard bad things about "Off Lease Only"... from what I have heard, the cars that all the dealers are running from at the auction are the ones that OLO is buying. I don't know for sure, but I am just putting in my two cents...

I have gone to the one in Lake Worth and was less than impressed with the cars when really looking them over. I am NOT a car salesman or dealer or have anything personal against OLO, I am just relaying what I have heard... take it for what it's worth.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm still on the fence about this one. I've bought another car from offleaseonly, it was fine, no issues, but you do have to do your homework.

This car is attractive because of the miles and still 20 months warranty left. I normally don't keep my cars for more than a couple years. If you were keeping an xf for 2-3 years would you rather have low miles anf factory warranty like this one or higher miles and Jaguar certified?

Honestly, buying a car with an accident history is a big gamble when it comes to resale. It's a big black mark on the Carfax that will never go away.

I would keep looking. It's better to pay a little more than to deal with a troublesome car.

If you want a car with warranty, just do a search on cars.com for specifically ones with certified warranty. Which covers 6 years and 100.000 miles - bumper to bumper.

Select Edition is most certainly not a bumper to bumper warranty.

I would be just a bit concerned that the Jaguar dealer that serviced it wasn't interested in buying a three year old car with only 17k and that it was sent to auction instead.

jlwine- that's a great point! I knew there was something obvious that I should have thought of.

OK, I'll keep looking. I'm in no rush, the right right car will come along

I don't think they could certify the car so that's probably why they didn't buy it.

My experience has been otherwise.

They can't certify a car that's been in 2 accidents, they can't certify one that's only been in 1 accident. The problem I see is that they do sell non certified used cars at Barrett, so if they sold it to auction, I probably would be worried about the damage from the second accident since there was no detail about it. But then again Barrett also sells Maserati(s) and Ferrari(s) in the same dealership, so they probably wouldn't sell any car that's been in even 1 accident.

That's actually incorrect. I just 4 weeks ago bought my 2011 xf premium from jaguar of Naperville in Illinois that did in fact have an accident reported on the carfax and got them to certify it.

You know every dealership has their own standards. Perhaps yours would only do it if the damage was under a certain price. Most dealerships here won't certify any car with an accident reported period.

Probably depends on the dealership, but there is a proprietary list of parts that are covered by Select Edition Warranty which is very detailed. Things that are generally not covered--trim pieces, SRS system (including seat belts), reprogramming costs, batteries, etc.

Send me a PM if you want the list--I have a several page PDF that a Jaguar technician sent me... under the radar, of course.
