Default X250 2012 Help Please.

Hi there, I wonder if someone could please help me. I went to purchase a 2012 XF Premium Luxury today - test drive was perfect until I selected Dynamic Mode (Chequered Flag button) - the button lit up orange, the driver display showed “Dynamic Confirmation On” but the car had no drive at all, the engine continued to run but there was simply no drive, foot to the floor & nothing. Switched off dynamic mode & the car was instantly perfect again in both drive & sport modes. No error messages or lights in the driver info screen. Salesman’s answer was “don’t drive in dynamic mode”!! I appreciate it’s a used car but come on...
Thank you to anyone who can advise.
Mark.

Yeah. Unless you're REALLY willing to roll some proverbial dice on some amazing deal, I'd say stay away from that particular car. I don't think that trim is so rare as to make that worth it. Are they asking a price with only one comma for it?

Thanks Matt. The question was posted really to try and gauge if this was a known issue & perhaps an easy fix before I pursue further, if I pursue it all.

I’m new to the Jaguar market hence the question to those who know better. The car is just under £6k (UK GBP)

The fault is being investigated next week so will see what transpires.

As you elude to, there will always be another - shame though because otherwise it was perfect.

Thanks. Mark

sometimes , you inadvertently discover why a car is for sale in the first place........ !!

buyer beware, even if it does get fixed

just my opinion without knowing the car or the seller

BB

ps, for reference, all the 'dynamic mode ' button does it let the car redline and hold gears longer before changing, nothing other than that , so its a gearbox ' issue ' if not working.........

Thank you.... so avoid it is clearly the advice. Such a shame as otherwise a perfect car. I guess I was hopeful it might be a simple repair which still keeps the deal to buy on the table.

Out of curiosity, and apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, and feel free to say “go search” but what is the difference then between S and Dynamic modes?

Thank you again for your time.
Mark

It also speeds up throttle response for the first part of throttle travel & stiffens up the suspension.

never heard of it but could have been a glitch. Dynamic mode just changes throttle response, throttle curve, gear shift response, gear shift timing, possibly brake response, and overall feel of the drive.

If you are getting a 2012 make sure the dynamic mode works as it is a useful feature and fun to use.

Thanks hen555 - I’ve decided I’m leaving it, even if the dealer says he’s sorted the issue. Personally I think he won’t even look at it (not a main dealer by the way) and so he will move it on to someone who will perhaps accept his “well don’t drive it in dynamic mode then” comment - great salesmanship.
Thanks to all that gave constructive comment, as I said I’m new to the Jag world and wanted some guidance in case it was a known issue with a known fix.
Thanks all & stay safe.
