Ok so I haven’t posted to this forum yet, but in the past I owned a 04 xtype for four years, and recently picked up a 97 xk8 coupe(x100). I do all my own maintenance and repairs, including rebuilding my xk8 ecu, and the timing chains and tensioners on the xk8 plus so much more….

on to the real question… I’m looking at picking up an Xf for my son, and in my area there are so many with different trims and engines. Mostly my budget to spend for him finds me 09-12 xfs, give of take. What should I look for specifically or what should I stay away from altogether? I would prefer he has awd if possible due to our weather here in western Massachusetts, because a 12”+ snow storm is rare but does happen. I have found locally about 30-40 for sale but don’t know much about them. Many are listed as parts cars due to no start conditions for various reasons. That doesn’t scare me at all as anyone who’s owned a Jaguar of any year can tell you to expect to fix some things especially related to electrical, and the sellers most likely got a quote from a dealer or repair shop and decided just to sell. Any help appreciated, just looking for some honest answers, as I don’t know too much about these models, but I feel would suit my son pretty well. He’s about to be 19, and I wanna see him in a car he’s proud of and have some comfort and luxury over his POS Impreza his mom bought him…not even a Wrx but base model!!! And now after 10 months she’s taking it away from him and he needs a car to keep his job and if I gotta foot the bill upfront I won’t be buying an overpriced 2002 civic that I gotta maintain.
