Has anybody experienced their car doing a "double beep" spontaneously as though the security system is trying to 'self activate' but can't. This is the same double beep you might hear if you try to activate the alarm using the key fob but a door is slightly ajar. This started spontaneously at 4:00 AM and was doing this for around one hour and then stopped only when I activated the alarm system with the top felt button, then pressed it again to double arm the security (like you do when you walk away from the car and confirm the doors are really locked...single beep). I was about to disconnect the battery, and this last maneuver seemed to make it go away.

Car battery is < 1 year old. Key fob battery is 3 weeks old. No codes.

If it helps, I will tell you that the security system had an issue arming around 6 months ago (I'd hear this double beep when I tried to activate it with the key fob and it would not arm). I traced it to the passenger side door which had a faulty locking mechanism. When this was replaced, the issue stopped.

There probably are codes but do you have an OE-type tool to scan for them?

Need IDS/SDD or iCarSoft or ...

 

My 2010 and 2013 does this when a door is not totally closed. Could be the trunk or any of the doors but mine always resets after I make sure that the doors are closed.
