I'll bring a different answer to the party:
Yes and probably not.
There are multiple videos on youtube of aftermarket infotainment running in the XF. They use an adapter to splice into the GVIF bus - here's an example. Here's another.
I'm taking it a stage further - I'm replacing the touchscreen in my dash with a high-resolution one, a high resolution reversing camera, and running an android in-car PC to run apps like waze and spotify. I'm in the process of decoding all the CANBUS codes for the heated seats, etc to code an app to replace that part of the menu system.
Running the newer in-car entertainment if it was just a case of replacing enough parts of the system with the newer one would probably be possible (if expensive) but I suspect you'd run into real problems with data incompatibilities, recoding canbus IDs, etc. It's probably not possible and without a doubt a lot more work that just replacing the system with a custom one as above.

About aftermarket screen, as for me it's impossible to install, because the Geniune touchscreen is the part of CAN system and MOST (fiber optic) system, so if you remove it, some component does't work such as: air ventilation, seat heater, ICE, NAV, rear camera, etc.
