Default XF Rattle

Hello to all! I just found this website. I bought a 2010 XF Portfolio about 6 months ago and overall love it. The only problem I have had is a rattle/vibration in the back inside of the car. I believe it around or in the brake light covering. But I can not find a way to access it. It usually occurs at highway speeds but not always. I have not noticed any correlation with outside temperature. And although road surface does contribute, it does not seem to be consistent.
I have taken it to the dealership, but after two unsuccessful attempts I have lost faith in them.
I am hoping that someone else has had the problem or more importantly knows the fix. Thanks for any input.

Make sure it isn't the sunroof rattling against its seals due to dust. This sounds a bit like a creaking sound. Because it comes mainly from the rear edge of the sunroof it can sound like it is coming from the back of the car.

To test, try tilting the sunroof open (forward on the switch) if the noise changes or goes away then clean off the edge of the sunroof opening and wipe the seal with a rubber treatment, silicone spray or similar. The seal is too hard IMHO and when dust gets in there it makes a weird creaking sound.

Thanks for the input. I am convinced that it is the brake light cover in the back window. I put a towel between it and the window, and magically the rattle/vibration is gone. So now I just need to figure out the next step. I could take it to the dealer, but again I have lost confidence in them. Plus I did read some of the reviews about the rental car situation, which I had a similar experience.

Take silcone or seal glide and put it on the sunroof glass seal, all around the seal, see if the noise goes away. The headliner clips make noise, and alot of times the sunroof assembly bolts become loose and make noise
