Yeah, the key has to be inside the car for it to start and within 2-3 feet of the door to open it.

Just one question - how do you turn back on?
I've posted this before, but it's been quite some time. Here is how to toggle the seatbelt minder off and on. It works on pretty much all of our cars, most Land Rovers as well. I made this cheat sheet so we could hand it to people. The dealer's legal beagles won't let us do it for owners, they have to do it themselves.

Cheers,

I say it is a Darwinian choice - those stupid enough to not wear seatbelts will be naturally unselected. I am glad to get rid of the chimes though!

This does not work on my UK Spec 2011 XFR.
I have tried every which way.

It doesn't work on my UK R either. I then asked the main dealer to silence it while they were plugged in. They were willing to do it, but gave up saying it couldn't be done.

I use these. I find it easier to plug in when needed and it also gets rid of any warning lights. Yes and I know what most of you are thinking but please keep it to yourself.

Good one! I've had to persuade my rear passengers to wear the belts. They say "It's not required by law". I say, "In an accident, your mass flying about the cabin would kill everyone else in the car". End of argument.

the seat belt chime drives me crazy. put the car in acc mode and plug the seat belt in 8x. no more chimes.
I just did my 2011 XF Premium. After the 8th x, a single chime confirmed the change. I'm a firm believer in seat belts. One reason why I did this; if I step out of the running car to leave my family in air conditioned comfort while I make a quick errand, they won't have to listen to the chime. Thanks for the tip!

Worked for me! I'm a seatbelt user but to have chimes go off while in 'park' is crazy.

Confirmed on the US model of 2013 XF V6 AWD (at least when it comes to disabling the chime). Now I wish someone found a way to flip the default on the auto stop/start feature!

Thanks for the confirmation on the new car.

At this point, be glad you CAN turn it off, the stop/start. I believe there will come a time when the EPA will force them to remove that ability. Your Gov't at work.......

Cheers,

I have also noticed that the blinker clicking sound is not a relay and just an audible sound as when another priority happens the turn indicator sound is gone. I wish that could be disabled as well as I don't need a fake click click sound to tell me my blinker is on, it sounds like a loud cheap relay clicking.
