XF Weight Reduction
Has anyone found some creative ways to reduce the weight of your XF / XFR? I have always kept my eyes on this with every car I have owned because less weight = better performance and slightly better gas mileage.
Two easy ways I have done it: don't haul a bunch of junk in your trunk and remove the spare tire / tools / jack (unless we are going on a trip; I work from home now so my car rarely leaves the garage except for around town driving....I also have roadside assist for the worst case scenario). I swear the spare and tools adds almost 50+lbs. to the rear of your car. Good for weight distribution and added weight over the rear tires but removing it gave me a noticeable SOTP bump in agility and acceleration. That could also be combined with the fact that it has gotten a lot cooler lately (70s-low 80s vs. 90+). Not hauling a bunch of crap in your car goes without saying, but it is amazing how quickly all that stuff can add up if you leave your clubs in the trunk, work stuff, etc.
I think I have read removing 100lbs from your car lowers your quarter mile by about .1sec. If you guys have figured out anything that I haven't post it up here~!
Edit: I would think that replacing exhaust components probably significantly reduces weight as well

You could save some important (ie unsprung) weight by getting the lightest wheels and tires possible. The lighter, the more expensive. They even make carbon fiber wheels now. The smaller the diameter the lighter overall.
You could go race car, and strip out sound deadening, unused seats, use lightweight driver seat that bolts straight to the floor.
You could have half thickness windows created for you to lower that weight.
Get a company to make lightweight panels for you like the hood and trunk in carbon fiber.
Remove A/C is always a big hit.
Remove the sun roof mechanism and just weld a new panel on there.

WRX, if you are worried about the spare, then simply go to a run-flat tire setup. Since the cars come with TPMS, if you loose pressure, the car is going to tell you. Then you have another 50 miles/100KM to go before the tire is really dead.
As for going with light weight glass/body panels, that would be a very large costs for minimal gain. For what you would spend, might as well take your current car, trade it in, and get a brand new all aluminum body XF. You will see the same (if not better weight reduction) for less money overall (not to mention the amount of work that would be involved).
Most of the weight savings have already been applied to the car. You don't think the manufacturer's haven't thought (where can we chop 100 pounds off of the car). Why do you think Jaguar went to all aluminum bodies? That is the degree that they are having to go to so they can save more weight.
