XFR front dampers into XFR-S.
New to the forum, not the car. I had a 2015 XF 5.0 SC and sold it last year and 2 months ago, i bought me a 2015 XFR-S from Kalifornia, IAA auto auction for $7,000 AS-IS.
As always, there are issues with the normal Wear and Tear and this one has a lot of wear and tear. I made episodes about it on my YouTube channel.
Here is the link if anyone wants to watch them:
I am down to the front dampers as the driver side took a major leak and when the car is OFF, i can rock it up and down but not the passenger side which tells me, it's wore out..
I did test the coil and it switches from SOFT to HARD ( i can hear the click) but it's too bouncy when i get out of my driveway, not like my previous XF with adaptive dampers..
Each damper is about $750 (DX2M-18045-AA or C2Z25908) and i have contacted Bilstein but to my shocking surprise, they do not have any dampers for the XFR-S, even though it is a Bilstein damper. So, i decided to buy dampers for XFR from eBay based on the part# for a XFR from Bilstein catalog, set of 2 for $950 but heres the issue, the rod travel is longer on the XFR-S by 1 3/8". Everything else is the same. That shorter stroke bugs me as i believe that the travel might not be enough and i will be driving on the bump stops.
So, my question is, has any retrofitted XFR dampers into a XFR-S?
