Default XFR Mina Gallery Intake Tube

I'm interested in buying the Mina gallery intake pipe for my xfr and wanted to know if anybody on here has had any experience with this intake? On the Mina gallery site it states that it adds 8-13whp. Has anybody that installed this intake noticed any performance gains? It's certainly a nice looking piece but I want to know if it really has any benefits over the stock intake

I haven't got any direct experience with the Mina intake, but I definitely noticed an improvement with a similar DIY intake, especially with low-end torque. The stock plastic intake is all about maintaining NVH levels that all Jaguar owners are happy with, which I totally get. I just want more power and see the increased induction noise as frankly a bonus.

I have one in mine, and while I can't speak to noticed performance gains because it was on the car when I bought it, I can speak to the intake noise, which is really quite nice. Plus it looks really sporty. It does get very hot though, so don't touch shortly after driving.

Never buy intakes for power unless you actually know you need more air. Always buy intakes to make it sound better! With the intake you will actually hear the supercharger under heavy acceleration.

That's why I was asking if it really made a difference in power. However, I will say that the one and only thing that bugs me a little about the new 5.0L supercharged cars is that you hear no supercharger whine! The old 4.2L engines had a very loud pronounced whine which I thought was very cool. So the intake does make a noticeable difference in sound?

The intake will give allow the S/C spooling to be heard much more noticeably. As far as the hp gains...I dynoe'd my car after every mod...intake did nothing...exhaust was about 8 whp gain over stock...both those mods are needed if you go go further into tuning, but on their own, they essentially just make the car sound better.

Oh okay. I also modified my exhaust and wanted to go to a dyno to see if it did anything. What did you do to your exhaust just change out the mufflers?

just offering my honest feedback, although it will differ from some other responses...

i have the mina intake. took forever to arrive.. was $225

liked the improved aesthetic of it vs. crappy factory plastic tube. had high hope of loud S/C sound, but i really cannot report any improvement to speak of in that regard. as far as power / torque - all i have is a butt dyno.. who knows - maybe?? it's not going to be very noticeable. 10 whp is like a 2.5% improvement over stock, right?

all that said, i'd do it again

I put a TCP intake on, very similar to the Mina one.
I couldn't detect any increase in performance or induction noise or SC whine.
But at least it looked a lot better than the stock intake!

I also put on the TCP intake. I noticed the supercharger whine increase the first time I drove it after the mod. Strange you didn't notice anything...I agree, the stock unit is fugly.

Did either of you have K&N filters?

Yep, I had K&N air filters at the same time.
