XFR-S: 2 issues, gas pump nozzle and transmission shifter light
San Jose Jaguar called me to say that they analyzed the log file and isolated the transmission selector switch issue to the engine RPM dropping too low. I don't know if this is a result of the software updates in the XFR-S but they are waiting to hear from New Jersey on their diagnosis.
On the gas filler issue, they were candid about this and said that it's been an issue all year and Jaguar engineers don't seem interested in fixing it.

Jeff
I own an XFR-S and took delivery of it August 1st 2013. Since then it has been back at the dealership for almost 3 weeks on and off due to the same issue you are experiencing with it slipping into N (even though it is displaying D but flashing). You need to be on top of this - it is a serious problem, I almost got rear ended because of it. After weeks of going back and forth with the UK to find answers (I received a call yesterday afternoon) it seems they have finally found the cause. They believe it is a programming glitch regarding the low idle revs. It is not as simple as them doing an update in the software. Because this now effects the EPA (in the U.S.) it has to be approved first. Depending on if they choose to re-test this it could take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks.
I am extremely upset as I have now been without my car for almost 2 weeks and looks like it could be a lot longer. My dealership has been awesome, they provided me with an XJ to drive until the issue has been resolved (could be to do with the fact that we put them on warning that if I were to be involved in an accident because of this issue we will hold Jaguar fully responsible and they will be liable for any damages/costs/health issues. They also told me that they are now aware of this happening to 3 cars including mine (1 in CA which could very well be your car).
Not much fun when you purchase a rare, fun, fast and exciting car and you are unable to drive it!!! Hope this helps, keep me posted on what your dealership is telling you.

As for wheels, there is a set of chrome wheels on ebay for $2000 from a 2012 model year. They are 18" in size. 18" Jaguar XF Chrome Wheels Rims Tires Factory Wheels 2013 2014 59885 | eBay
Or, these pre-2012 model year and slightly cheaper. 18" Jaguar XF PVD Chrome Wheels Rims Tires Factory Wheels 59836 | eBay
It took nearly a year for Jaguar to obtain approval from US regulators for repair of a harmless software glitch that tripped the CEL on my '09. Only certain high altitude areas were affected. However, any change to engine management requires US government approval before it can be implemented.
I just sent you a friend request, would love to stay in touch with you on this issue and also talk with your dealer. I bought my car in Florida, we have a home in the Fort Myers area, but live primarily in CA.
San Jose British Motors has been really solid about communicating with me status.
1) They want to keep the car to Monday, 10 days from when I dropped it off.
2) Engineers from the UK are flying in (but I think they were already in CA for an event in Orange County).
3) They are aware of the other cars with the same problem.
4) The issue that is triggering the symptom is identified, what is not known is why it is happening.

Wow, This is very good information to have. I hope I don't need to use any of it, but I will keep this close just in case. I bought my car from a small resale dealer in Santa Cruz, De Laveaga Motors. So not a Jaguar dealer directly, We know that the car came from Anaheim, CA. the Land Rover/Jaguar dealer down there. One owner, Lease return.
We bought a full warranty from the dealer, I believe is thru Jaguar. (my husband bought the car, I wasn't there at the final signings of paperwork)
We are hoping that the car had all "bugs" worked out and repaired during the first 4 years. It was maintained well and I hope that the Anaheim dealership will have perfect records of all its issues. I think I will contact them.
on the wheels, my car has 19's so none of the 18's I like will work..
thanks so much for all the help!

I took it to Facebook.

Right now, the way I feel I could get the car back and immediately drive it to Autobahn Motors and flip it for an E63s. This is less of a statement about the car and more about customer experience, which matters as much as the product in today's economy.

I know how you feel Jeff!! I also looked at other cars, mainly Audi and Porsche but they just don't do anything for me like the XFR-S does. My dealership has been amazing to me and that counts for a lot. I have chosen to stick with it and wait for the fix because I LOVE my car so much I just can't see myself in anything else.
