XFs in October Car & Driver
Two different XFRs run in the Lightening Lap (along with an F-Type R).
All were way-over powered and the drivers had lots of trouble controlling them...

You dreamed of a big star
he played a mean guitar
He loved to drive his Jaguar...
So welcome to the machine

I read that as well. Results were pretty much as expected.
XFRS - It might be personal bias / taste but I don't get the point of this car. It doesn't push jag past the E63 or M5 in performance and looks a bit ugly. Again personal preference but a large spoiler on a sedan doesnt work and the pumped up body parts work against the smooth coupe like apperance of the xf / xfr. With the limited run it was probably more about generating buzz but certainly not going to win any awards or comparison tests
On the other side I adore the F type coupe. Test drove all 3 models and I went in expecting to trade my xfr for the f type r and left thinking the S was the better car. Full power in the R was rarely unusable and finding what level is takes a lot of practice. You have two options, tail wagging burnouts with power slides or resting your foot on the pedal and cruising. Grins for days but when it came down to writing a check it was a lot of smoke, noise and dreadful mpg without doing anything all that quick (other than straight line launch in perfect weather). If applying even a degree of reason to a purchase the S is plenty. Many might disagree but the R needs a Porsche like AWD system before its toward the top of any track day lists.
All that said maybe the world needs at least one car to look so good and not care how fast it goes around a bend, just how much its driver enjoyed doing it.
