95-97 XJR options and packages?
...did some searching of the forum, but didn't find what I was looking for. Apologies if it is archived somewhere, and happy to go take a look if I can be pointed in the right direction
But I was wondering if anyone had a list of the standard features and options/packages for the 95-97 XJR?
I have some old brochures ordered which probably will call those features out, standard versus optional, but was curious if the forum had that data posted somewhere.
Thanks,
Al

AFAIK for the 1995s there were only two options available on the USA spec XJR: leaper on hood and a full sized spare tire....and I think Jaguar USA ordered all the XJRs with those two options.
Not sure about 96-97 cars but it's a fair bet that the options list was very short.

I think I have noticed various 95-97 XJRs with and without the rear console floor "extension" tray that seems to include the rear heated seat switches?
Were the rear heated seats an optional item?
Or were the rear console "extension" trays themselves an option for certain model years and the rear heated seats were standard and had the switches located elsewhere?

I was under the impression that the rear seat heaters were optional on the LWB cars only, which then precludes the XJRs.....as they were all SWB.
<shrug>
Someone who knows for sure will chime in.
I'm sure that the front seat heaters were standard issue on the XJR, though.

My '95 XJR was born in Germany and later imported to Denmark. No heated front seats and no memory package/power adjusted steering wheel. I believe it is quite common for Europe to have lesser spec'ed cars than the US...

I have the US sales brochure for the 95MY and the only options listed for the XJR are
The leaper hood ornament
An engine block heater
Full size spare tyre
Heated front seats were standard.
I do know that heated rear seats were offered with the LWB cars from 96MY on but not sure if they were for the XJR as it was only made in SWB versions

I just found my 1996 USA brochure.....I knew I had one!
Heated front and rear seats, and traction control, were standard on the XJR and XJ12.
The *only* option listed for the 1996 XJR is the engine block heater.

Heh
...true.
But now that leads to another question. Since it seems that rear heated seats were standard on at least the 96 XJRs, were the heated rear seat switches always in that console "extension" or sometimes elsewhere?
I seem to recall seeing some 97 XRJs in the US without the rear extension.
Curious to see if someone has a US spec brochure for the 97.

Gearbox. All XJRs were manual as standard, with the auto an option. Here's the page from the UK 1997 brochure.
Please support the JDHT and buy the X300 Supplementary CD-ROM. It has all the brochures from all the model years.

Wow, there were actually quite a few options then.
Forgive me, what is the "JDHT" and where do I find it? Happy to purchase the CD if it has all that useful info.

Happy to buy the CD, sounds very informative. what is the "JDHT" and where do I find it?
Thanks

JDHT = Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. Just Google it

There was never an option for a manual gearbox in the US it was auto only. There were only very few options like those listed above. The XJR essentially came "fully loaded"
JDHT is the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, an excellent organization that provides an excellent online parts catalog, workshop manuals on CD ROM, Heritage certificates and many other useful resources.
I have a US spec 1997MY brochure I bought off eBay.
It reads the following as an option on xj6, vdp, and xjr:
"2 position, memory door mirrors, drivers seat
and steering column with auto tilt-away feature" but
shows as standard equipment on xk8 coupes & converts.
Also, fwiw, the All-Weather Package which consist of:
- headlamp power wash
- engine block heater
- heated front seats
- heated rear seats (sedan)
- heated windshield
- heated rear window
were standard equipment for 1997MY as per my brochure

I've see a few 96 XJRs with the rear heated seats though.
And when I say "see" , I mean from photos. So take that with a grain of salt!
As the saying goes, 'specifications subject to change...' blah blah.
One thought is that Jaguar USA might've decided to order some cars without the cold weather package for distribution in southern states?
I dunno. Pure speculation on my part.

This red XJR that al has been looking at is not what I would consider a typical XJR. It looks optioned as a regular car with sports seats. Most of the XJR6 cars that I remember had the two color interior and a wood shifter.
