I have looked at A LOT of photos of F-types and their wheels. I am considering making a change from my Gyrodyne Sparkle.
Currently I have 15mm adapters on the front and 25mm on the rear. So my net offset is +40 front and +13 rear with the OEM wheels, (+55 front, +38 rear). I can not remember where I saw those numbers suggested, but since then I have read a bunch of posts stating how 25mm will not work. I'm here to tell you that I do not have any issues. I'll put those arguments to the side for now. I really like the way it looks, they are just a frog hair, maybe two, proud of the fenders.
Many of the sites that deal in after market wheels have AI renderings to help you visualize new shoes on your car. I was blown away at how well it works...most of the time.
My biggest concern, outside of proper fitment, is that so many after market wheels look like, well, after market wheels. I found it hard to find ones that didn't venture into the "tuner after market vibe", if that makes sense. I have narrowed things down to a few choices I think are acceptable. The bronze look, the multi piece look, the classic brushed metal look, and the OEM Maelstrom.
I know that wheel choice is very subjective and full of emotions. But I would love to hear from y'all as to what you think of my short list here. And please let me know if you think any of my selection is venturing away from the design that makes the F type so beautiful. Thank you in advance for all of your advise and input.
Here are some of those awesome AI images to give you an idea of where my head is at.
To start, my car as she sits now (NOT AI):
With the 15mm on the front and 25mm adapters on the rear
Option One Element in satin bronze
a Second version of Satin Bronze Element wheels
And a third
Vossen HF-3 in satin bronze
For the multi piece look, I saw these pictures but I can not find them any where. If you have a suggestion on something like this PLEASE point me in that direction
The closest I could find are just not as "correct"
Then there is the conservative look of brushed metal
Then of course the Maelstrom. I've seen a lot of opinions about weather these would fit or not.
It is and I'm still not sure if the Maelstrom rims will work on a 2017 F-Type R? There are much smarter wheel fitment experts than me on this forum that would know for sure. These rims were actually on my 2017 SVR with the ceramic brakes but I have a feeling there were some differences over the R variant.
While I generally like bright wheels, I think your Gyrodynes are too bright with the white paint. I think Jim’s (aka Portlander’s) wheels look great because of the grey surrounding the smaller bright bits. Can you render your car with Gyrodyne “dark grey/diamond turned”, which have a similar look. Maybe you could powdercoat your existing wheels.
Otherwise, I’d probably prefer gunmetal with the white.

Hey! we DM -d each other a bit about all this a little while ago. You have a 2023 with the Maelstroms, correct? I've looked into the Maelstroms as much as I could find on here. Still nothing conclusive. The +54 offset on the rear makes me think that too big of an adapter would be needed to get them flush. As always, thanks for your input.
I have always loved the Maelstrom rims due to the black and silver contrast and the wider gaps between the spokes which allow the calipers to be more visible. The Work wheels do look amazing and would be high on my list if I went the aftermarket route!

I was thinking about doing a powder coat as well. I did that on my BMW when I couldn't find anything that didn't look "boy racer-ish". Kind of the same deal, went from a silver sparkle to a matte grey.
My view is that the car looks best with wheels that have some curve to them. To me, the more angular and straight designs contrast too strongly with the lines of the rest of the car.
I have my eyes on a set of these in 19", at some point, but I think BBS has three wheel styles that will fit on the F-Type if you look at their site and configurator.
Rims on my 2021 R that I just never got accustomed to and felt they were just too dark for my liking. Sinister looking without a doubt but I prefer a more elegant vibe.

The all black doesn't do it for me on these white cars.
