Default Pushing car to work this morning...

Okay here is the scenario...

Stopped at a red light and I accelerated when it turned green. About 1/2 way through the intersection the car died. With great presence of mind I flipped on the hazards, hopped out and kept her moving through the intersection and over to the right. Some dude even pulled over and helped push the rest of the way to the shoulder(must have been because it was a "Jag"). Got to the shoulder and stopped, jumped in, turned the key and she started right up and I drove the rest of the way to work.

So - now we start the guessing game. My guess is it's a failing fuel pump. There has been a distinct "whine" and I can't tell where it's coming from...but it sounds like fuel pump whining. Every so often it will quickly change pitch and return to it's former whining glory. Fuel filter? Not likely, but would be really nice if that's all it was.

Thanks all for your input!

I think you're on the right track. I'd change the fuel filter first to rule out the cheapest possible culprit, then check the fuel pump relay, a common troublespot.

But two relays! You need good relays in the RH rear heelboard main bus, and the fuel pump relay in the trunk fuse box, second from right with the green base.

I just posted in the other thread: Old spark plugs cause totally random stalling. Don't ask me how I know this.
