when you pulled the fuse/relay to pre-oil the engine, did you put it back in?

I jumpered the relays to check the pumps (both ok) then swapped relays around in the trunk. She immediately fired up but pretty lumpy, almost like it was really rich. The lumpiness settled down a bit, then I shut it off to allow the oil to settle so I can check the level and the water too.
No check engine light, so that's good. She might just need fresh gas and a good run.

Went for gas, got a restricted performance message. After hours of fiddling to get my ODBII software working, I got codes P0304 cylinder 4 misfire,
P1316 injector circuit, P0204 cylinder injector circuit malfunction. Question is, which one does this software think is #4?
And oh yeah, I am fixing my sons car at the same time, its sprung a coolant leak.

I expect most software does not transpose the numeric codes and report them verbatim.

So, from JTIS:

Any positional references are based upon the following convention: viewing from the driving position, the right-hand cylinder bank is designated bank 1 (A on circuit diagrams) and the left-hand cylinder bank as bank 2 (B on circuit diagrams). The cylinder bores of each bank are numbered 1 to 4, from the front of the vehicle.
Cylinder closest to the glove box on your LHD car.

I did the obvious thing, unplugged what injectors I could reach, then plug them back in.
She runs like a charm now!

Nice! I admit I did the same thing (didn't have a couple injector plugs fully seated.) Once seated it ran excellent, as your seems to be doing now.

Well I'm happy now. She runs smoothly, and drives like a dream. I still have projects/questions, but that's the fun of owning these cars. The airbag light is on, perhaps because I had to remove the passenger airbag to do the carbon fibre mod.
I'd like to figure out a cheap/free way of resetting that. Then a couple dash lights are out, and I want to install bluetooth, program the garage remote, etc, etc.
Before and after:

While this project was underway, I sometimes wondered if it would be as quick as I hoped it would be. I am used to the XJ8, and I knew the XJR would be quicker, but how much?
I hoped I wouldn't be disappointed.
Well, no worries there. This thing is fast! At first it wouldn't rev past 5,000 in Sport mode, but after repairing the kickdown switch, and rigging the throttle to open fully, it's all good.
I'm very pleased with the results. 0-60 times.com says it should do 5.1 seconds, and my OBD says 5.7 seconds. Very smooth, very quiet, very fast.

I much prefer the thought of having it on an engine stand, where I can see just what I'm doing with out a struggle. the basic shopping list is the entire timing chain kit, upper and lower, head gaskets, octopus hose, S/C hoses, water pump, and any idler pulleys or hoses that look iffy.

Also any repairs/upgrades the supercharger needs. Transmission fluid as well of course.
Nice job. I like to replace the oil pumps, cranks and rod bearings on motors and have the crank turned if bearings are available ovefsized
