Restricted Performance Light and Induction Elbow
Hello all,
I have a '04' XJR and the "restricted performance" light came on the other day. I took it to the dealer to have it looked at and was told that the "induction elbow to the intake manifold" had a leak and is causing a vacuum leak. I was quoted $1199.19 to replace the "induction elbow".
So not being a rocket scientist and all I am assuming they are talking about the air intake with the filter box and the MAF which allow air into the intake manifold????? If that is supposedly loose on either end aren't there just clamps that hold it in place?
Should it really cost that much to replace this part or am I way off as to what they are referring to?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Robert

I had the same problem with the restriction light and it ended up being the air filter as far as the induction elbow I dont seewhy the calamps cant be tighten or replaced or if there is a hole in the intake remember it is plastic an can be fixed
Hello,
So I just got off the phone with the dealership and am being told that it is a piece connected under the intake manifold and that it does not have flange type connection thus the entire part must be replaced.

They are probobly quoting the rubber seals at either the intercoolers, or the throttle base adapter where it goes to the blower. Both are common leak areas. And if that the case its probobly about right. And if it they were talking about the air intake(induction tube) another common problem, then i would say wtf!!!!
Hello,
Here is the write up from the tech. found fault codes P0171 and P0174 Lean Banks 1 and 2 and found induction elbow leaking vacuum and recommended replacement.
Thanks,
robert

Well jaguar cant call a part the same name from the service manual, to parts, to warranty booking. But to me that sounds like the air intake tube from the air cleaner. And if so did they give your car to someone that can't diag without spending half the day doing so and expecting you to pay for it?
A part number for the part would help to stop the guessing as to what it is

I have the same error with the same error codes. For those of us who are new, can you tell describe what an induction elbow is and where it's located or even how to replace it?
