2011 XJ thoughts and experiences
Have my XJ about 45 days now. Still feel it is georgoeus and drives great.
Couple of quirky things that are a real annoyance and was wondering if anyone else has these.
Resposiveness of touch screen is terrible. You press and 50% of the time nothing happens. Then you press again, there is a pause and then it inputs. Whether you are changing menu screen, a radio station, nav, anything, all very slow.
In navigation you have to set the state you want directions for and unless you are going to Alabama you have to push each time to advance down the list one state at a time. NY, NJ,TX all take a ridiculuos amount of pushing to get to.
Blue tooth on two different phones pretty poor. Does not recognize.
When it does recognize a call and you switch to hand set (like when your passenger is on the telephone) radio goes into mute as does the navigation. Means no one can listen to anything except the other persons conversation. And you do not get Nav instructions.
Keys do not memorize seat positions. I have had numerous luxury cars the past 15 years. The keys in every one record at least the memory seats, some record personalized radio stations.
The Nav is supposed to have a read out on the dash in left circle, sometimes there sometimes not.
The day light running lights do not work.
I am hoping the upgraded software, whenever it arrives will solve some of this quirks.

XJcat, unfortunately, your radio issue is a problem that has been noted time and time again with the 2011's. IN 2012 they upgraded the radio and it improved things as far as response times when touching the screen. But, it didn't fix the having to select the state before inputting an address (atleast you don't have to select the state every time as long as the address is in the same state as the previous entry).
With this being said, I seem to recall there is a topic here that talks about upgrading the 2011 radio to have the 2012 screen and then you can update the software too to give you the 2012 features and "fast response" while keeping your current radio.
