2011 XJL water pump failure
Hello everyone
I was reading about all water pump fails because I just had a similar problem.
To cut to the chase I thought the water pump was the culprit and replaced it luckily I filled the reservoir with water before completing everything and water poured out from above the water pump! The PLASTIC water tube under the intake manifold was the main failure ( there are 2 ) it separated and leaked. Upon inspection of the other PLASTIC water tube towards the rear of the motor I could see residue on it also it too was about to give out.
Now I understand using PLASTIC in certain areas on cars but under the intake manifold where it is subjected to high heat is just stupid! You would think that on an $80K car they could make such a thing out of cast aluminum. now it said FOMOCO all over it as did the water pump but come on PLASTIC!
Very disturbed by money saving practices like that. By the way my water pump (52K mi. ) was also seeping out of the hole on the bottom of the pump so it was on borrowed time. The PLASTIC crap just beat it to dumping my coolant on the driveway.

Sorry to hear about your water pump, but I'm not surprised.
I started a thread in 2014 to document how many 5.0L XJ owners have had their water pumps replaced. Click here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...placed-132537/ Please include your model year, NA or SC, approximate mileage when replaced, and current mileage. Thanks.
