Not as much as you'd think. I guess the two rearmost mufflers do most of the muffling. They are quite a bit larger than the center resonators.

For some reason Corsa has not been friendly over the phone twice. I plan on going there and asking to speak with someone.

Is there a specific x pipe that works well for the 5.0, or will any x pipe work? Do you have a link to the one you've used. I have a lot of drone and backfire with the Mina gallery and my shop said an x pipe helps a little bit with that. Lmk thx

I think you can use any old xpipe. Its literally just exhaust tubing welded into an crossflow X shape. I think there are some that have actual resonators inside, but the plain old empty xpipe is what I have.

The xpipe would probably help smooth your exhaust out.

So you have straight pipes going from the cats the Mina mufflers?

Yes it's a bit too loud, sounds great but just a bit obnoxious imo. And the drone driving around is quite annoying.
Previous owner had apparently removed resonators. And when I got the Mina pulley, exhaust and intake. I didn't even know the resonators had been removed as it wasn't that loud at all. The big stock mufflers really quieted down the car, even without the resonators, and I wasn't expecting the Mina to be so loud. It's really bad especially on a long hill I drive down every day and it gurgles and pops the whole way down.

Thinking aloud after watching some youtube videos...I wonder if just a straight up muffler delete would be too much. I know another member here did it and it sounded pretty good but I think he ended up putting mufflers back on.

Some of those XFRs and XKRs in those videos sounded amazing with straight pipes.

I think something like this could look great if done correctly. Ive never liked quad circle much in general, as opposed to oval or something, but i just dont think it looks right on this car, even the OEM ones. I think ones like the Panamera Turbo's would look fantastic on our cars.

At one point last year i was talking with a shop about possibly doing a quad trapezoid shape, really similar to the AMGs or Porsches, and i had to get them measurements after the new year, but Ive fallen behind a bit on that.

exhaust tips are small enough to 3D print, is there any kind of 3D print material that can stand up to exhaust heat? haha

Do you remember about thirty years ago when they were advertising a plastic hose you put on your exhaust tip? You were supposed to use the other end to defrost your windshield. On most modern cars the exhaust isn't that hot by the time it reaches the tip at least at idle.

My parents had that exhaust hose. It worked. I remember being with my pop and we were stuck in his station wagon and he used that hose and it had a cone at the end he put down on the ground in front of the rear wheel. And the revved the engine for about 10 min and all the snow melted and we drive off. Lol

There was a time when I could have used one. Mom came out to see my house in 2001 or so. One morning I went out to warm up her car, let it idle with the defrost on full. Walked out a few minutes later and as I approached it I heard the windshield go SSNNIICCKK. It broke in half. So, I went back inside and gathered her up and took her to the glass shop and had a new windshield put in her car. That hose might have saved me a few hundred dollars. Needless to say I don't put the defrost on full heat and walk away anymore.

Okay so install happened today. Had both resonators deleted and Magnaflow X-pipe installed. Honestly I cannot tell one bit of difference yet. Stock rear mufflers still there. Front resonator deleted and straight pipe put in its place. Rear resonator deleted and X-pipe put in its place. I was really hoping for at least a bit more volume when I stomped on it. Those rear mufflers must be great at doing their job. I previously had 2012 XFR and I was hoping to possibly mimic sound of that car with this move, no go. Not sure where to go from here. Think my options are deleting X-pipe and just having straight pipes where both resonators were or making a change on the the two rear mufflers. Bit confused and disappointed. Maybe I'll stop up at Corsa tomorrow and see if anyone will talk to me.

the XFR has the exact same drivetrain right? so does this mean the XJ has more resonators and mufflers than the XFR?

Different chassis and XFR that year had 6speed auto and my XJ has 8speed. Would have to look underneath a XFR to see. That's not likely with how rare they are.

Replacing the xpipe with straights will probably make it a little louder, but the xpipe helps with performance and makes the exhaust note smoother (ie no drone). The Ftype R and XKRS both have factory xpipes as close to the front as possible, which is where I put mine.

I'm thinking a straight up muffler delete will be my next step.
