Have a 2012 xjl purchased on dec 26, 2011 with 7,000 miles. I should be due for my first service at 1 year or 15,000 miles. So I'm due for first service on dec 2012. No service indicator light has come on yet? When does it alert me? Also. I see a service menu in the set up main cluster accessed thru the steering wheel- yet it can't be accessed?

 

I got my first service alert at around 11 1/2 months with only around 4000 miles on the car. You should see the alert soon, but you don't have to wait for the indicator to come on obviously...

 

A dealer may have reset your service indicator depending on the manufacturing date of the car. So, you have to keep track of your first service due date. Same thing happened with my 2012.

The service menu can only be accessed when the car is NOT being driven and is stationary.

Service light finally came on. About 16 days before 1 year anniversary. Took it in today. Asked service advisor about the service menu not being accessible. He said it is only for the service dept and customer can't get into it.

 

its part of the start sequence, it goes away after a few seconds.

if it doesnt go away, thats when you have an issue
