Default 2017 XJ Tail Light Replacement

Well sadly, my weed-wacker fell off the wall and wacked my tail light. The tail light still works but the outer housing, plastic cover, is broken. Can I get a replacement cover or do I need to replace the whole assembly? I have clear tape on it now to keep moisture out. Thank you in advance for the advise.

KC-CarGuy, I would do some looking around, but I am not aware of any replacement clear covers for the tail lights. I know they make them for the headlights, but have never heard of them for the tails. So, that would lead you to having to replace the whole tail light. If you look on e-bay, they go for about $400 and up for your year car (make sure not to get a 2010-2015 taillight as there are slight differences). You may want to look at a place like copart or some other auto recycling site. You may be able to find a better deal there. I know the dealership is going to be over $1000 for a new taillight. But, that will be a brand new unit vice a used one like E-bay and Copart are going to have.

Thank you. An eBay vendor messaged me last night. His part looks like it is going to work, so bought it.
The "cover" just looked like... I could not trust it. Even though that's all I need.
Thank you for the input.
