2019 XJ50 vs XJ Collection
Not sure what I am missing between these two cars but must be something as the price difference doesn’t make sense. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I can find the XJ 50 locally but would need to make an out of state deal if I wanted a Collection. While I prefer the V8 of the collection I could easily live with the V6. Based on the internet searches and not actually speaking with the dealers the discounts on the XJ50 appear to be $5-6k more.
For those not familiar the XJ50 base price with standard V6 is $88,200 and the base price for the Collection with standard V8 is $85,000. In addition the collection has several options standard that are at cost on the XJ50 such as adaptive cruise control and 360 park aid.
Both are the long wheel base and the rest of the standard options seem similar so what am I missing?? Why is Jaguar giving away a free V8 upgrade.

Remember Jaguar is a manufacturer and the dealers are retailers that buy the product from the manufacturer. Loaded vehicles are a huge liability for retailers as they have a high entry point and if they did not get scooped up by now the are running the risk of getting stuck with them at a bigger loss. The manufacturer tends to assist in the losses from time to time with additional incentives to the buyer. Also the V8 is RWD in a AWD dominant luxury car market. Basically all I am selling is that they will have less issues selling the V6 so they want to keep profits on it, but for the loaded V8 the target buyers have already fled and gotten over it and to find the right person the compromise is additional discounts.
When we were out shopping the 19's XJ's last month, we almost picked up a BRG Collection, but the longer wheelbase was way too long/big, so we just settle on R-Sport. Jag is marketing the Collection as their last hurrah, so they've lowered a $95K at a special sticker of $85K. Only 300 of those Collections are sold in the US. I woulda love to have that V8 to go with my F-Type R's V8 (& also BRG), but wife didn't want the long wheelbase...
