3 to choose from Help!
Hey guys I’m a newbie so please pardon my inexperience with some details. Shopping for my 1st XJ and here are my options, curious to see what the majority of you guys say..
1 - 05 Supercharged 120,000 miles clean title no issues, asking $7000
2 - 06 XJ8 80,000 miles clean no issues $7000
3 - 06 XJ8 L 124,000 miles clean again no issues $4700
Obviously I’ll have to see them I person and drive them but based on the information above which would you choose?

mickdog, I guess a few other questions come to mind:
-is this going to be a daily driver or a weekend cruiser?
-how much work can you do to a vehicle?
-How often do you have people in the back seat of your cars?
-How much do you like to zoom from light to light?
All 3 cars are going to be good. It is a level of good that we are talking about here. If you have a lead foot, then #1 all the way.. If you are after a smooth cruiser for weekend trips and in general a nice ride, #3 with no question. Your passengers will thank you. If you are not much of a backyard mechanic, then #2 is probably your better bet. Granted, any of these could also turn into a money pit just as quick.
Now, all of this assumes that they are all equally optioned and have roughly the same issues (worn seats, dings/dents here and there, etc). You get one with a bad shock, that can be a great bargaining chip for you (assuming you can do the work yourself). But, if you can't, may make the car a lot more costly for you. I know if I had to get another XJ, I would be looking at the L version and making sure that it came with the rear seat trays. Power wise, I think you are going to find all 3 cars more than adequate in power. With that being said, the supercharged one is going to be a ton of fun to drive and get you from 0-60 in OH YEAH BABY!!!!!!. So, really, I guess the question comes down to what you can do and what you need, that will steer you towards the right car. Just don't buy the first one because you are afraid it is going to disappear. There are lots of them out there. You will find the one you want.
