I've used Beck Arnley parts and coolant, but from what I've seen, they don't produce products, but they re-label/repackage from other suppliers. And from what I've seen, the parts they sell are upper-level suppliers.
I'd trust a Beck Arnley when I choose something other than JLR for things that don't get replaced often, but for the pump, I think I'll be going with genuine JLR although the Beck Arnley is $84 to the JLR $250. Not because I trust the JLR any more than a Gates, Uro or Beck Arnley, but simple personal preference.
I put a GMB pump in my Range Rover with the same engine, and it's working fine, but once I found the GMB is made in China I wish I'd gone with the Italian-made JLR pump.

Just for curiosity about specifics, where is the pump leaking from?

Ha. Murphy's Law is quite prevalent when working on cars or watch movements. And my cat's name is Murphy.Originally Posted by 12jagmark

I haven't yanked it out yet but it looks like its just leaking out from the bottom rear where the unit meets the engine block, almost like the gasket failed.

Nothing on the pump to fail back there, so probably a gasket. Or the oil cooler seal.Originally Posted by XJ8JR

Hopefully nothing much. One good thing is that it's easy to get to, with an electric radiator fan, less in the way to get to it.

I pulled the water pump yesterday but unfortunately couldn't tell exactly where the leak occurred due to all the mess it made. I hate doing anything involving coolant. Its impossible for it not to get everywhere.

Our 5.0l does not have the SC so very easy to get to.Originally Posted by 12jagmark

Be sure and replace the plastic water tube behind the pump with the nice aftermarket Aluminum version.
It's a quality upgrade.
