Default Air intake channel on XJL 2014

On the radiator support on my 2014 XJL there are two plastic scoops that channel incoming air into the bottom of the air filter boxes, and thence into the throttle body of the engine. On the bottom of these scoops there is a short coil wound sort of fabric hose that feeds into the bottom of the air boxes, and it has shredded into dust. I've contacted three Jaguar service centers, and apparently no one can identify the part number for these hoses. I need to replace the one that went bad, but am having trouble finding one to purchase. I f you're familiar with the item I'm describing, could you point me in the direction of a replacement part. Thank you for any assistance. Bearly

It helps to post what engine you have as the XJ had several options depending on where you live?
Your location is another bit of the puzzle we need?

Here is a diagram from the JEPC and even though we don't know what engine you have it does appear that the fabric portion is NOT available separately and comes with the assembly shown in part number 4 & 5? Which includes the plastic intake section as well.

Unless you have the 5.0L engine then the RH tube is available separately (Item #6). But for some reason just the RH side?

Note they are different from LH to RH so again you will need to add details to get a correct answer??
These are not wear items so used would be fine.

HOWEVER they are not made very well and as you have found out that wire wound fabric tube is fragile and just taking it in and out can destroy the fabric. Mainly because where it clips into the air box is hard to release as it's in an awkward spot to depress the plastic release tabs.

Not a great suggestion BUT is there enough of it left that you could "patch" the flexible tube using good duct tape?

I will give you simple and easy solution as I had the exact same problem. They sell the fabric intake hose part for XJ on Aliexpress:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...b6101802quv7YD

Buy this and install. If you want to buy genuine then you will have to replace the whole intake tube (along with plastic parts) and costs quite a lot! Jaguar doesn't sell the fabric hose part alone. Thank me later.

I like the plastic replacement duct!
Can you post any part numbers? Do they offer both the RH and LH sides?
When I removed mine they were fragile and not sure they would survive another round of R & R either.

I hope the Aliexpress ones work? They shown round and the fabric ducts are rectangular?
But they are cheap enough that even if it took a bit of modification it would be worth it.

Even original fabric ducts are round but the ends couple with plastic tubes that are somewhat rectangular. This normal since fabric ducts are qutie flexible and couple nicely when you tighten properly with ties. And of course Aliexpress ones work perfectly since they are basically the same as original Jaguar ones.

Am I the only one wondering why the XF used hard plastic vs fabric like the XJ?

Does the XJ need more flexibility for some reason? Or was it just some penny pinching accountant trimming costs?

I had an XF so I just went on line bought the parts from a picture on EBay. You would have to buy complete duct from Jaguar for a XF. They use same air boxes and intake as XJ 3.0 and 5.0

3 liter supercharged V6, I'm sorry for not including that information in my original missive. Bearly
