Bluetooth Phone Takes Long Time to Connect or Doesn't Connect At All
Hi Guys:
Just got a 2012 XJ and bought a new Samsung Galaxy Y....
Firstly, let me say that I KNOW that I have paired correctly.
So, here is the problem. As soon as I turn on the ignition, I get a 'beep' from my phone to tell me that the bluetooth search has begun. That tells me that the car has sent a signal to the 'phone. It then takes at least 30 seconds and sometimes 45 seconds or more for the car to discover the phone. Is this normal? Additionally, about 30% of the time, after about a minute of searching, the car display will read 'connection failed' and I have to ask it to try again.
Anyone else have this problem or can make suggestions of how to get over this problem?
I deleted the Samsung phone from the car and then reinstalled it. This seemed to improve the number of times it failed to connect but that might be my imagination.
By the way, once the phone does successfully connect, it works fine.
All help appreciated.
Thanks - Roger

My experience is that certain combinations of cars & phones never seem to get on that well. My iPhone pairs reliably with the Jaguar. But in the Espace, I frequently have to "nudge" the iPhone to make it discoverable by the car.
Is it possible for you to check pairing with another phone? And are there any firmware/driver updates for your Galaxy that may help with Bluetooth connectivity?

I wonder if, once again, there is a compatibility issue with Jaguar cars and new issue phones. In my '08XK my HTC Thunderbolt phone did connect but, it did not download the calling list correctly. Seems from all forum posts, that was typical and the dealer explained that the car's software was older than the phone with no updates available.
My 2012 XJL connects to the same phone perfectly with no error messages and no noticeable delay. I sure hope that when I upgrade my phone next year, it will not have connectivity issues, like in my XK.

Here is the thing that Jag fails to realize. Bluetooth is Bluetooth. It's meant as a universal standard. There should be no working with one phone, but not another. I have had issues with my phones on BOTH my XJs. Only thing that syncs without too much issue is the iPhone or my iPad. I've had a Droid 1, 2, 3 and 4. Only the Sroid 3 synced most of the time and my Droid 4 just started working after I took it in for service. I know how to sync it right and pair it once synced. It was highly annoying since I pay for Spotify and Pandors and like streaming. I couldn't even get my phone to sync for calls. The loaner XF they gave me worked fine.
