Default Brake caliper repair/ refurbish

Hi all,

I would like to repair/ refurbish a front brake caliper myself. To my surprise Jaguar sells a kit (part # C2D3793). From the diagram it looks like it might only contain the seals, but unsure if it also has new pistons included. Has anyone done this on their car? Is the kit sufficient or is another kit recommended? I have the 380mm brakes up front. Thanks in advance.

Is there a specific problem with the caliper you’re trying to fix?

I think the pistons are partially sticking. One rim is getting warmer than the rest of the rims and the rotor on the same wheel is warped a little (0.0045”) after 4000 miles. The rotor is under warranty, but I want to make sure I don’t put on a new one only to have the warping come back.

I changed the brake fluid apparently for the first time ever when I bought the car with ~79,000 miles on the car. Fluid came out like coffee. Think that long without fluid change probably did the seals in, if it didn’t scratch the pistons too.

I think the slider pins would be sticking before the caliper pistons would?
Maybe lube the pins first?

I think the caliper is common with other Jaguars so maybe search other forums to see if someone has used the kit. Other than that a call to a friendly parts department would answer what's included.
