Default Considering 2016 XJ - winter tire options??

Hello

I am currently driving an XF and am considering a 2016 XJ R-sport. I'm in Canada and it is very cold and we get plenty of snow and ice. The XJ is delivered with 19 inch all seasons.

I am curious about winter tires. I always get them for my cars but see little choice in the size required for the XJ.

Any recommendations for winters?

Thanks

I think is you already have a winter tire setup of wheels and tires for you XF and your new Xj is a V6 the wheels and tires from your XF should fit just fine.

Thanks XJsss

The XJ R Sport has staggered 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 OEM wheels. I have put 245/40/19 Michelin X-Ice 3 winters onto my XF OEM wheels.

I thought there is a little too much difference between the 245/45/19 and 245/40/19 - my winters are not tall enough?

Will these tires fit? Dealer says no but they might be trying to sell me more tires?

Problem is the current Michelin tires are virtually brand new - only a few months on the car. I would love to be able to use them if possible.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Just viewed "Tyre Size Calculator" site - the 245 will not fit a 10 inch wheel. Narrowest size for 10 each wheels is 255.

If the 245/40/19 winters are acceptable I can but a set of winter wheels.

Maybe a call to Tire Rack may provide some answers. I had the impression that you retained the wheels that you ran the winter tires on for the XF and is this is the sase the bolt pattern is the same. As for tire height it would only throw off the speedometer and odometer a bit. These are only suggestions as I run only Summer High Performance tires on my XJ SuperSport.

Those tires will work just fine. No need to try and sell them and take the hit. You should buy a set of winter wheels though. It's correct that the 245's can't be mounted on your wide rear factory wheels.
