Default Cooled seats or not?

Hi all, looking around to buy myself a ~2011 XJ, premium luxury or portfolio. I've noticed that some of the seats in these cars have small perforations or holes, as if they are ventilated, but then other seats are leather with no holes, and yet the seller claims they have cooled seats. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

I'm sure someone will come along with some more concrete info. My cooled seats have the ventilation holes, for what its worth.

Don't know about 2011, but our 2019 seat icon has 3 blue dots for "cool" & 3 red dots for "heat" settings, as well as massage function, for driver & passenger seats.
Of course, that's the first thing I do after starting up the car is punching the seat button for "cool" & massage, while my wife set it for "heat" & massage...

Even the base model has heated & cooled front seats, according to page 45 of the 2011 XJ brochure. Page 46 shows a photo of a tan interior without perforated seats.
Personally, I've never seen an X351 interior without perforated seats, but it looks like they exist ... at least on paper.

oh really? I didn't realise it was a standard feature, I thought it was only on perforated seats. I would say its a 60/40 split on places like autotrader, with the majority being non-perforated seats.

On the "lesser" XEs and XFs, the upper specifications have perforated leather seats but without seat cooling as standard. This has to be ordered as an extra. So I don't think there is a direct relationship between seat perforations and cooling

Ah okay I think that explains it! I presume the perforated seats were just a styling choice rather than a functionality one. Thank you!

When I specified the options on my 2011 xjl "luxury" there was no ventilated seats on it in "normal " form and no perforated leather, however my 2015 Portfolio does have cooled and heated perforated seats
