Default Creaking noise from the dashboard FIXED

For no particular reason, a creaking noise began sounding from the centre of the dashboard (X351), it occurred only when pulling away (forward or backward) or when just about to stop. No repeat once moving or beginning to slow. I read the other entries relating to random dashboard sounds and tried oiling the tops of the front suspension, checking for interior parts rubbing or any signs of failed airflow components etc, no joy. After driving me almost nuts in traffic, I concluded that it occurs only when taking and releasing load, so I greased and oiled all door hinges, bonnet struts, bonnet hinges, both bonnet catches and latch as well as the two front bonnet bump stops - which I strongly suspect to be the main cause. Problem solved. Most likely some moving part of the bonnet got dry and when shifting weight caused a sound to appear from the bulkhead / centre of the dash.

Hope it helps someone else save time investigating!

Good post and reminder!
I also found creaking from the door seals where they rub on the body. I apply Sil-Glyde or something similar every so often. The car is SO quiet that any small amount of noise is a big deal. Some prefer a spray Silicon product for less mess and ease of application.
