To each his own but it's like the old Mercedes logo. No one is doing pop up emblems anymore. Everyone is using a flat one. I agree don't do it.

I think the reason their are no more stand-up hood ornaments on modern cars is that they tend to further injure pedestrians unfortunate enough to be hit by the car.
My favorite hood ornament was that on a 1950 Oldsmobile "Rocket" 88 (my first car) but in introspect, I can now see how it could have very efficiently pierced and then sliced up anyone unfortunate enough to be impaled on it.
